I'm a resident of the pacific northwest, along with a very spoiled cat. Believe it or not, the rain during the majority of the year doesn't bother me, and the temperatures are actually rather mild given the location. I think the summers more than make up for any winter weather, though I don't have the opportunities to get out and hike, camp and otherwise enjoy the weather that I'd like.
I'm a geek and love all kinds of technological toys and goodies. Fortunately I also have a few shreds of self-restraint, so I spend more time drooling than playing. But, by gum, when I'm 90 and NOT living in a cardboard box, that self restraint will be worth it. ;)
Like a lot of geeks, I'm also not precisely extroverted. This journal is probably one of the most extroverted things I've ever done. Isn't the Internet wonderful? Nice and anonymous. On the Internet, no one knows if you're a dog. Or a cat.
As you can see from my various user icons (from several talented artists - click the icon on the User Info page to see all the icons and who made 'em [and how to contact them!]), my alter ego online is an anthropomorphic leopard. I tend not to advertise that fact (or this blog) too heavily, due to the reputation that "furries" in general have, as a result of the more extreme examples of the fandom that tend to wind up in popular media. Its sad, but as conservative as my family is, I just don't want to have to explain that what they see on TV isn't representative of everyone. Yes, it is the easy way out, but I'm lazy. Besides, my family generally manages to manufacture quite enough drama without my help. ;) Pity, though, since I've met a bunch of cool folks via the fandom and there are probably a lot more who are interested but scared off by the general reputation.
